Pilates Classes

All Pilates classes at Estudio Nuevo are based on Joseph Pilates technique.   Pilates classes involve alignment and correct use of muscles, whilst stretching and toning the entire body to give an overall feeling of a satisfying workout.   Some classes focus on specific areas and muscle groups, but most importantly, the "powerhouse" or core is always activated and worked.   All new students are encouraged to attend a beginners' course.   Mats and all equipment are supplied; class numbers are kept small and intimate to allow for personalised tuition.

Mat-based Pilates

Mat-based Pilates is a series of exercises performed on the floor using gravity and your own body weight to provide the resistance.   The central aim is to condition the deeper, supporting muscles of the body to improve posture, balance and coordination.   Some Pilates work can include weights (such as dumbells), balls and other types of small equipment that offer resistance to the muscles.   All Pilates classes involve alignment and correct use of muscles, whilst stretching and toning the entire body to give an overall feeling of a satisfying workout.   Some classes focus on specific areas and muscle groups, but most importantly, the "powerhouse" or core is always activated and worked.   Classes also include myofascial release work and stretching.

Equipment-based Pilates

Equipment-based Pilates includes specific equipment that works against spring-loaded resistance, including the "reformer", which is a moveable carriage that you push and pull along its tracks.   Great for people needing injury rehabilitation, dancers, sports people or those who want to work on specific personal goals.   Equipment available in our studio includes reformers with jump board and boxes, the Barrel, the Wunda Chair, the Cadillac, spine correctors, wall units, balls, bands and balance equipment, along with a fantastic friendly instructor.   All 1/1 sessions are personalised tailored programmes that can be scheduled to fit around your busy life commitments.
